KENAI'S WAR-ROOM

STAR WARS - INTERLUDE TWO
"Kenai's War-Room," written by Scott Bower, and edited by Mark Stinson

As the glow of the mystical Ring of Fire dimmed and we were plunged into the shadows of this subterranean chamber, I mumbled under my breath "thanks for the warning, these people wouldn't know a battle strategy if it danced around naked in front of them." I told everyone, "We need to get back to the The Gutter before the TG's shut down the streets." Father Tradeau accompanied us as we sped back to our refuge on Milos and gave Ton-Kimble a briefing on what had transpired with the Fire Mages. All the war strategies I had been schooled in at the White Tower were swimming in my head when we gathered the leaders of the local rebellion to formulate our plan to end the Hindar Clan's reign of terror over the people of the Twilight Sector.

We had to spread the word on and off-planet of the giant deception and dark secret that had been perpetrated on this planet and its people. This should not only bring in the needed supply of patriots we would need, but also hopefully keep any other Clans from throwing good money and reinforcements into a nonprofit sham of a production facility. We also needed to start out with a coordinated attack worldwide to knock out their obvious air superiority. If we could get the other resistance groups in the boroughs around the world to perform raids on their aircraft at the same time we could strike a great blow to the Hindar's tactical advantage. Our second and simultaneous objective was their Power Armor battery supply in the Justice Halls. We needed to sabotage or destroy as much as possible since their means to recharge them was gone . In questioning Father Trudeu I learned that many of the Church of Fire Adept's had the ability to channel energy and we quickly procured a battery from a damaged set of armor we had acquired from our battle earlier. We found that the priest of the Church of Fire could siphon off the battery charge quickly if they could make personal contact with the armor. One of the rebels with background in power engineering said he could rig up a cabling device that could quickly couple a large number of batteries together in parallel to drain a large number of batteries . These plans were sent out by the most to secure means possible and plans were made to strike in 24 hrs.

Twilight Guard Patrols were doubled in the streets. Males, both young and old were being taken from their homes and taken to Justice Hall to be interrogated by cruel Inquisitors. The Twilight Guard had clearly been ordered to determine who had "goaded the ignorant rebels into striking at the power core units." At least that was clearly the belief of the Hindar Clan and their Guardsmen. By now, word of what had been done to the children of Milos must have spread like wildfire...by now, volunteers should have been on their way...coming for revenge. But no word had yet come. The fight managers had for the most part come onboard...bringing their fighters with them to the rebellion. Rebel cells had thrown off some of their paranoia and solitary habits, and information was being shared between rebels. But no word had come of off-planet help. Where was the righteous indignation...where was the help? Ton-Kimble spoke up with a theory. "Any help we did get would have to sneak into the most well-guarded System in Sector 42. This is Fendora-Bengala...we live sewage of our oppressors...we are but slaves to the most powerful economic and military power in 250 light years. I fear we are on our own."

We retrieve our smuggled shipment of arms from old Minkywa. He added a few crate that he had managed to bring together at his junk-shop over the years. "I've waited patiently for this day since I was a boy. I could die tomorrow perfectly happy. It is not so important that we actually win our freedom. What is important is that today we are men...today we stand and fight." We set about arming our rebel forces for the raid. Morgan was organizing the Gutter into a Hospital and command center while planing with the Fire Mages how best to utilize their formidable powers. This freed me from worrying about these support functions, and allowed me to lead the raid on the Twilight Guard airships .Quinn and Vette, along with the power expert Ohmnar, Zengral the spy, and two of the Fire Adepts dressed in acquired Hindar maintenance uniforms were to go in ahead as a crew checking the power levels of the batteries stored in the Justice Hall. Ranar and I were set up on each side of the Hall, positioned a few blocks away on buildings overlooking our target. We would act as snipers and scouts to warn of approaching reinforcements.

So there I laid watching our Jedi's lead their crew into the hall to work their mind tricks on the occupants therein. The cover-story they were using clearly would not succeed in getting them inside, if not for their ability to shape the thoughts of men. After a 1/2 hour with no alarm sounding I watched as Ton-Kimble and 24 patriots scaled the side of the hall. If Quinn and Vette were successful, they would reach the top without being observed by the surveillance cameras . I breathed a sigh of relief as the first man reached the top .With my telescopic eye I watched as they maneuvered to ambush the TGs stationed on guard. The action started quickly as they over-powered the 2 external guards, dispatching them with multiple mass charges and numerous plasma grenades turned the secure walls of the Hall into an unforgiving oven. They then swarmed around the the 3 air vehicles parked on the roof and blasted away at the hatches to gain entry for more grenades. Much earlier than an eye of flesh could have managed, I spotted the approaching aircraft. I broke radio silence warning the others to get out of there. Ranar jumped on the radio and warned of patrols in battle armor approaching the Justice Hall at full speed. I leveled my Quantum Rifle and using my eye at full magnification I took a shot at the ship. . The shot flashed across the face of the ship and with a curse I tried to adjust my second shot. This was easier than I had anticipated, for the ship changed its course...heading directly at me! I was only going to get one more shot...and it better be good. Blam! The shot struck on the side of the ship...above the stabilizer I was aiming for...with no noticeable damage. Another curse left my lips as I launched myself into a sprint toward the edge of the building to my left. A narrow ally separated it from a building one story shorter. I glanced over my shoulder just in time to see the missile trails leading toward my vacated position and then the world exploded around me. I was lifted from my feet and propelled through the air as everything went from bright to dark....
